Catesby Projects are looking to hire two enthusiastic and dedicated engineering students on year-long placements. The successful applicants will support our engineers on both new and existing projects across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive and elite sport.

We took some time to chat with our current interns Michael Siemens and Ziggy Colman, to provide some insight on the role and life at Catesby Projects. Both Michael and Ziggy are studying MEng Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bath and found out about the role through the University’s placement page.

Ziggy (right) and Michael (below) joined us in Summer 2023.

“An opportunity to consult for leading
motorsport and automotive companies in testing
and developing.”

When asked about the internship role at Catesby Projects, Michael said what he’d enjoyed most about it so far was “seeing internal and external flow paths on a wide range of vehicles, as this is something I’ve never seen before”, adding, “I’ve learned some new software too and will continue to learn as I am exposed to CFD, which is something new to me, but was always interested in through aerodynamics”.  Ziggy agrees that is has been brilliant to have “the opportunity to consult for leading motorsport and automotive companies in testing and developing their vehicles exterior aerodynamics and interior flows”.

Michael and Ziggy have also praised the role for the way in which it gives them the opportunity to work closely alongside expert engineers, which has allowed them to “develop technical skills as well as transferable skills such as report writing, processing and general workplace professionalism”.
