- CFD Engineer

At Catesby Projects we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive, and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.

 

We are looking for a CFD Engineer to join the team to help push forward our growing business.  The engineer will help lead and oversee CFD Projects with up to 1 person reporting to them. You will have between 3-5 years experience in automotive or motorsport aerodynamic development and a relevant degree from a top university.  You will work closely with our vastly experienced CFD aerodynamic development team.

 

You must be eligible to work in the UK.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee CFD projects for customers throughout motorsport and automotive sections.
  • Carry out pre processing work to prepare models for CFD.
  • Setup and manage CFD simulations.
  • Carry out aerodynamic analysis and reporting.
  • You will communicate with the customer on a daily basis.
  • You may be required to manage a junior member of staff.
  • Help with general business development, finances, quotations etc.

 

You:

This role is ideal for someone wanting to take a stepforward in their career whilst working on a diverse range of projects in a rapidly growing company.

An engineering degree with relevant industry experience and a passion for a variety of disciplines including motorsport, automotive and elite sport.

You will have a minimum of 3-5 years experience in an automotive or motorsport environment.

Experienced in CFD simulation, ideally using OpenFOAM.

Experience in pre processing models for CFD, ideally with Hypermesh or Hyperworks.

Experience in technical report writing and customer communication.

Surfacing experience is desirable but not essential, ideally using Alias.

Experience in working with 3D scan data is desirable, ideally using Geomagic.

You will want to work on a variety of applications in a small but growing team.  A hands-on approach and desire to ‘get stuck in’ is essential.

- Vehicle Test and Support Engineer | Catesby Tunnel

At Catesby Projects we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive, and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.

 

We are looking for an engineer to support our customers during testing at Catesby Tunnel. The engineer will help customers in the lead up, during and after tests.  This could include:

  • Helping plan tests for both automotive and motorsport customers.
  • Installing, specifying and calibrating sensors or hardware.
  • Creating test plans to ensure the smooth running on the day.
  • Support on test day for running and checking data.
  • Assisting in formal procedures such as WLTP coast down.
  • Being a point of contact with our customers.
  • Data analysis and report writing.

You will have a minimum of 4 years experience in automotive or vehicle development and a relevant degree from a top university.  Experience in automotive certification and testing would be a distinct advantage.

You must be eligible to work in the UK.

- Senior Digital Design and Manufacturing Engineer

At Catesby Projects we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive, and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join the team to help lead and push forward a growing part of the business.  The engineer will help lead and oversee mechanical design, 3D prototyping, 3D scanning and surfacing. You will have experience in multi-disciplined engineering with between 5-10 years prior experience.  Previous elite sport or automotive/motorsport experience is essential.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee small design team.
  • Carry out and oversee design work as required on a range of projects including elite sport, automotive and motorsport.
  • Oversee and carry out aerodynamic surfacing for various applications including automotive and motorsport.
  • Oversee and maintain the operation and maintenance of 12x 3D FDM printers.
  • Oversee and carry out 3D scanning of road and race cars.
  • Ensure quality of all design services meet the requirements of the customer
  • Help with general business development, finances, quotations etc.

You:

This role is ideal for someone wanting to take a stepforward in their career and manage a small and growing team.

An engineering degree with relevant industry experience and a passion for a variety of disciplines including motorsport, automotive and elite sport.

You will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a multi-disciplined engineering team.

Experienced in solid and surface modelling, ideally including Alias, CATIA or Onshape.

Experienced in 3D printing and design of parts for 3D printing, ideally including maintenance and operation.

Experience in 3D scanning, post processing and reverse engineering, ideally with Artec or Faro equipment.

Experience using Artex Studio or Geomagic would also be advantageous.

You will want to work on a variety of applications in a small but growing team.  A hands-on approach and desire to ‘get stuck in’ is essential.

- Project Engineer : Olympic Cycling

1-year, fixed term contract. Must be able to start immediately.

At Catesby Projects, we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.

For this particular role we are looking for a Project Engineer to support a new Olympic track cycling project, ensuring a smooth delivery for our customer. The role will be varied and we are looking for someone with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working in a multi-disciplined design team to deliver results to the customer.
  • Project and programme management, including budgeting.
  • Design work and review.
  • Managing of suppliers from RFQ to delivery.
  • Support with testing programs (aero or physical).
  • Assisting with surfacing requirements for sporting, automotive and motorsport development projects.

You:

  • An engineer with industry experience and a passion for elite sport, particularly cycling.
  • Be able to start this role immediately.
  • 2-3 years industrial experience is ideal.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK.

Ideally you will be:

  • Experienced in helping deliver engineering projects.
  • Ambitious and want to help grow Catesby Projects.
  • Confident in working with customers and understanding their requirements.
  • CAD proficient in both surface and solid modelling.
  • Previous experience in prototyping and manufacturing processes.
  • Previous experience in the elite sport sector is desirable.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics and testing is desirable.
