- Vehicle Test and Support Engineer - Automotive | Catesby Tunnel
At Catesby Projects we support customer programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive, and elite sport. From concept phase to final design, working at Catesby Projects will be varied and challenging as we push engineering boundaries across multiple sectors.
We are looking for an engineer to support our customers during testing at Catesby Tunnel. The engineer will help customers in the lead up, during and after tests. This could include:
- Helping plan tests for both automotive and motorsport customers.
- Installing, specifying and calibrating sensors or hardware.
- Creating test plans to ensure the smooth running on the day.
- Support on test day for running and checking data.
- Assisting in formal procedures such as WLTP coast down.
- Being a point of contact with our customers.
- Data analysis and report writing.
You will have a minimum of 4 years experience in automotive or vehicle development and a relevant degree from a top university. Experience in automotive certification and testing would be a distinct advantage.
You must be eligible to work in the UK.

- Experience in automotive testing, legislation or homologation would be advantageous, WLTP coast down would be ideal
- Experience in working with various sensors and data logging solutions.
- Experience in data processing and report writing.
- You will want to work on a variety of applications in a small but growing team. A hands-on approach and desire to ‘get stuck in’ is essential.

- Test Technician - Catesby Projects
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Test Technician to join our performance engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the testing and validation of prototype components developed for a high-performance cycling programme.
Working closely with design engineers, you will take responsibility for preparing, operating, and maintaining mechanical test rigs and data acquisition systems to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. This hands-on role requires strong practical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously to deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate mechanical test rigs for structural, efficiency and durability testing of prototype components.
- Configure and monitor data acquisition systems, sensors, and instrumentation to ensure accurate and repeatable test data.
- Plan and conduct tests independently, including troubleshooting issues during setup or execution.
- Manage test schedules, documentation, and data output to support development timelines.
- Communicate progress, results, and any technical issues through regular check-ins with the wider engineering team.
- Maintain test equipment and ensure calibration and safety procedures are followed.
- Role may also extend to part time vehicle testing or instrumentation support.
- Role will be based at Silverstone and Catesby.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mechanical testing or experimental engineering role.
- Practical knowledge of mechanical systems, rig setup, and data acquisition hardware/software.
- Proven ability to work independently to plan and execute tests.
- Competent in using hand tools, measurement equipment, and basic fabrication or assembly processes.
- Organised and proactive approach to managing multiple test programmes.
- Full driver’s license required.
- You must be eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Experience with vehicle or bicycle testing, instrumentation, or mechanical setup.
- Familiarity with strain gauging, load cells, thermocouples, or other transducers.
- Understanding of test data analysis and reporting (e.g. Excel, Python, PowerPoint).
- Experience with project management.
- Experience working in a performance engineering or motorsport environment.
- Knowledge of bike mechanics e.g. Bike build, fitting bearings, tyres, chains.
