Catesby Projects are looking for passionate and dedicated engineering students to join the team on our year-long placements. The two successful applicants will support our engineers on both new and existing programmes across a range of international sectors including: motorsport, automotive and elite sport.
We took some time to chat with our current interns Jacob McDonnell and Jamie Wilson, who offer a brief insight into the internship opportunity with Catesby Projects. Jacob studies MEng Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University and found out about our internship through the universities’ careers network. Jamie is an MEng Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Bath and applied for his current internship role with us after seeing it advertised on our LinkedIn page.
Jamie (right) and Jacob (below) joined us in Summer 2022.

When asked about life at Catesby Projects Jacob said his favourite part of the role was “working on a wide variety of exciting projects”, adding, “being involved in the process of improving a vehicle’s aerodynamic performance has taught me more about aerodynamics than any university lecture could”. Jacob has also enjoyed the lifestyle that comes with a daily routine stating “Without coursework hanging over my head in the evenings, I am more relaxed and find myself settling into a healthier lifestyle with more exercise and better prepared food”.
Jamie agrees his favourite part of the internship so far has been the “range of projects and exposure into the CFD industry”. Jamie has also enjoyed the “chance to meet and work with experienced people in the industry”.
Our interns work closely with experienced engineers, enhancing their learning and improving their skillset.
Work within a fantastic team of talented individuals at the brand-new Catesby Innovation Centre.
